Dixx Review

This happened yesterday. I just didn't get around to blogging it.

Before you say anything, I have not visited either of these sites and my review is based on the opinions of the sites' visitors, members and a group of people I bribed to analyze the site under my instruction and report back their findings.

Dixx is a site for users to post porn links much like Digg but exclusively porn and not just generic. I personally think it's a good idea, it will get all the porn off Digg and other link sites for a start, but it being part of Doomsday has caused much debate, as it could be stealing The Monster Site's links, members and traffic. This is because Dixx is not a sub of TMS but a sub of The Burn.

The Monster Site is already established as Doomsday's porn site but it does have it's flaws. For one, The Monster Site is a bit extreme and perverted when it comes to sex and most people aren't interested in that sort of thing. For two, The Monster Site's content is in general artwork and animations and not photographs and real-life video. These are probably the main two reasons that alot of monsters (members of The Monster Site) are migrating to Dixx.

It is the general consensus among the members of TMS which remain that Dixx is stealing all their stuff, but you could see it as they are simply offering a different service. TMS has had it's spotlight for way more than is comfortable, as a result they have attracted many unique individuals, but as Dooms has boomed it now includes much more of the body of the net and the world in general. TMS no longer supplies the majority of Dooms members with what they need, but instead what the outliers and uncommon occurrences are hungry for.

So instead of griping about not being the top dog, why not celebrate the individuality of The Monster Site, because Dixx still lacks functionality, social networking and an attractive design. The package of Dixx as a whole is not too good but its concept covers a different area to that of TMS and always will do.

Dixx may take the more normal people from TMS but it will never dominate it as there are always enough perverted folk out there to enjoy it. Dixx isn't stealing TMS's crowd, Dixx is simply making The Monster more unique.
