Vampire History 4

--Then there's the not so big biggy Dracula--

Well, for a start, his name's not Dracula, he is count Transylvania. Dracula is the name he was given by his people, it means undead. Dracula was nothing more than a tyrant. He treated his people really badly and wouldn't even pay to have his castle rebuilt. As a product of this, hordes of vampire bats had made their home in the broken down castle. He was a womanizer, a murderer, a kidnapper and a crook.

But there is one odd thing about Dracula. He's the only vampire lord with vampire underlings. You can say that he wasn't liked by the people but he had plenty of people to do his bidding. The trick I think is the fact that his method of feeding didn't necessarily kill them. He could infect people and get them to do whatever he wanted.

Also, the clever bastard used something that couldn't be destroyed, the land of Transylvania itself. He even adapted the ritual so he could return. So what, he has the added complication of only coming out at night but he had many people to do stuff for him so he's safe as houses.

There was of course that little problem of the Vampire Slayers. They actually knew what was going on and snuffed him out. But as long as there's somebody dumb enough to follow him, they can just keep bringing him back over and over. And that's something no other vampire lord has done.

So Dracula might be a bit pathetic and unimaginative as a vampire lord but the others are all fucked. That's why Dracula is so popular. According to the story he can come back at any moment no matter what you do as long as there are people to bring him back.

And of course, if you bring him back you become immortal so why wouldn't you. The smart bastard.

Dracula has lived 11 times so far that have been confirmed. The rest is just superstition.

Firstly, when he hadn't died yet. His original reign of tyranny, when he was merely living.

Secondly, his wife Elizabeth brought him back. Elizabeth disapproved of Dracula's harem and sought to kill him personally, which she manages to achieve. Elizabeth is often depicted as having equal if not greater power than Dracula himself. But don't think she's kind because she killed Dracula, she is a right snooty cow who believes that everyone is beneath her and has more ambition for power than Dracula. Dracula is often shown as one who wants to rule Transylvania again but Elizabeth is much worse as she plans to conquer the whole world. Elizabeth is said to eat souls and be able to transform herself into anything at all, even things that don't exist yet.

Thirdly, his butler brings him back and this is the one that was written into a book. Van Helsing, who is a scholar who studies folk lore, discovers the story and has the knowledge of how to kill Dracula from reading books.

Forthly, folk lore says he was reincarnated by a witch. This witch is said to wield a magic spell book that can open up portals to hell.

Fifthly, he was reincarnated by a madman. This madman is compulsed to perform the ritual to reincarnate Dracula. It is said that Dracula whispers into the minds of madmen and this is the story's explanation of schizophrenia.

Sixthly, a leper wanting eternal beauty reincarnates him. In some stories when Dracula tells him that he will never be beautiful he kills Dracula himself and in others he sees the wrong in his actions and gets the good guys to help. Some stories say he is Dr.Frankenstein's monster and others claim he is a zombie.

Seventhly, a Vampire Slayer who wanted eternal glory reincarnates him just for the purpose of killing him. The guy either gets killed by Dracula or becomes a vampire himself.

Eighthly, Dracula's illegitimate child which was the product of Dracula's harem brings Dracula back. His intention is so that he will have a father but finds out that Dracula doesn't care and most stories say he makes a trap for Dracula that kills the both of them.

Ninethly, he was reincarnated by accident by a descendant of Van Helsing. Helsing's decendant reads some scripture aloud from an old book in his grand father's collection and unwittingly unleashes Dracula upon the world yet again. In this story the original Van Helsing gets killed trying to stop Dracula himself as he is too old. The young Van Helsing and his father both rally together and stop Dracula.

Tenthly, Dracula is reincarnated by a swarm of rats though some stories say pigeons or bats. These creatures, whatever they are, were the pets of Dracula and lived in his derelict castle along with his underlings. They performed the ritual themselves using their bodies to make a pentagram. In most stories they die in the process of reincarnating him but in some the people of Transylvania rally to exterminate the vermin. This story is often used as an explanation for the Bubonic Plague.

Eleventhly, Dracula is reincarnated by a gypsy when she cursed someone. She apparently uses the wrong spell and casts Dracula's soul into her victim. He slowly becomes Dracula acquiring his powers one by one. In some stories the last thing he acquires is his aversion to sunlight so he is caught off guard in the daylight. In other stories he has all the powers but immortality and is killed in a way that Dracula would normally be immune to.

There's even theories of him being reincarnated all the way up until the current date. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it Vlad.

Dracula's famous aversion to sunlight is the subject of much discussion. The original documents are a bit vague on what effect sunlight has on Dracula. They basically just say that Dracula had to come out at night and didn't explain why.

Early documents claim he just preferred to come out at night, when his victims would be senseless and his excellent night vision would act as an advantage. But later stories claim that the previous stories are just guesswork and that Dracula actually had some sort of allergic reaction to sunlight like he was albino.

Dracula is often depicted as having very pale skin and alot of vampires often have red eyes and white hair. But Dracula's hair is very well documented as being black.

It could be that Dracula was wearing makeup that would bleach the skin and darken the hair. But was he wearing hair die because he was albino or was just wearing harsh makeup.

The big clue would be whether Dracula's eyes are red or another color. Unfortunately, this is a bit of a discussion.

Some say Dracula's eyes were red like other vampires. Is this because they are or is it because they expect them to be.

Some say they were brown like in his famous painting. Is that because they were or are they just using the painting as a reference. Who said the painting was accurate.

Some say they were blue as Dracula was described as being beautiful and this often means blue eyes in those days.

Some say green as he was described as being super strong and the Norse races nearby had green eyes and they were stronger than the average person in Transylvania.
