About Kick-fit

I'm pulling this to pieces...

[quote]

KickFit martial arts academy has been open since 1996 and continues to teach the martial way.

[aside: 'the martial way'? What the hell does that mean? Are they training the army? Are they teaching them proper military drilling techniques? I doubt anyone would stand for that as recreation.]

Located in Nottingham city centre, the martial arts academy is run by chief instructor Master Richard Hudson 6th Dan Black Belt and offers an excellent range of international martial arts and fitness tuition in large premises with two main teaching rooms, a weights room, changing rooms and shop.

[aside: city centre, weights room, fitness tuition, shop... It's one of those martial arts places]

Master Richard Hudson's method of instruction involves training his students in a wide variety of skills, constantly showing new ways and techniques to counter attacks.

[aside: and never perfecting any particular style or training attack methods]

The academy has trained a large number of champions (including world champions) and medal winners from various competitions and continues to do so.

[aside: Note, not a large number of world champions. There could just be only 1 world champion. And what kind of contests have the other 'champions' won eh? Local championships perchance.]

All students are encouraged to help one another within a class and this culture allows beginners and intermediate students to train together successfully - students learn from instructors and instructors learn from students.

[aside: If the instructors are learning from the students they're clearly not teaching them right. Martial arts is about persona as well you know. Yano, that whole mind, body and spirit thing.]

All classes have a grading system and students are encouraged to attain these levels on a regular basis. However, the emphasis remains to learn a wide skill base rather than sticking to the confines of a single grading at a time.

[aside: Oh dear. That's very badly managed]

KickFit martial arts academy is recognised by:

* AMA - Amateur Martial Association
* WAKO GB - World Association of Kickboxing
* BCCMA - British Council for Martial arts

[aside: Ahem. According to this, only the kickboxing style is recognised. Therefore all those weapon styles I see are not.]

About Master Richard Hudson - chief instructor:
Master Richard Hudson Nottingham

Master Richard Hudson trained in the Philippines under the great Eskrima instructors Grand Master Danny Guba, Grand Master Cacoy Canete, Grand Master Dionisio A Canete, Master Evlogio A Canete Jr, Grand Master Felimon D "Momoy" Canete, Grand Master Vicente "Inting" Carin and Grand Master Antonio Ilustrisimo.

[aside: How many grand masters do you need? It clearly hasn't rubbed off then. He's only a 6th dan. I know 6th dan is high but if you have learnt from 6, count them, 6 grand masters. Also, he didn't learn the weapon styles from them either. Eskrima instructors it says.]

In March 2001 Master Richard Hudson won the world championship title in Los Angeles competing in the Cacoy's Doce Pares World Invitational Championships having previously been National and British Champion in 1997, 1996 and 1993 and also British Kickboxing Champion in 1993.

[aside: OK, fair enough. That is quite a significant title there. That is of course if the CDP doesn't mean sports styles or amateur championships. As for British champion, that's not hard. We suck at martial arts.]

In February 2002 he was awarded his 6th Dan Black Belt and was promoted to "Master" by Grandmaster Danny Guba - head of Doce Pares Europe.

Under his instruction in Eskrima, Master Richard's students have achieved:

* 2001 Silver Medal World Championships Super Heavyweight - London
* 2001 Silver Medal World Championships weight - London
* 2000 Silver Medal World Championship Super Heavyweight - Los Angeles
* 1998 Gold Medal World Champion (Ladies) - Philippines
* 1997 Gold Medal British Champion (Junior Boys)
* 1997 Gold Meal Midland Champion
* 1997 Gold Medal Northern Champion (Veterans Men's)
* 1997 Silver Medal European Championships (Ladies) - Spain
* 1997 Novice Champion Limited Bare Knuckles Submission Fighting
* 1997 Silver Medal Senior Limited Rules Bare Knuckles Submission Fighting

[aside: hang on a sec. 'World Champion - Philippines', 'British Champion - Juniors', 'Novice Champion', 'Silver Medal', 'Northern Champion'. Come back when you have some real champions. And what the hell is a 'Gold Meal Champion'. That better be a typo. What weight is 'weight London'? 'Limited Rules', 'Super Heavyweight', they're just brawlers. Get a job street fighting, you'll make more money.]

In 1998 Master Richard Hudson was accepted onto Richard Bustillo's instructor programme. Richard Bustillo studied Jeet Kune Do under the legendary Bruce Lee and is now Director and Chief Instructor of the International Martial Arts Boxing Academy in California.

[aside: Richard Bustillo 'studied' under Bruce Lee. Nobody said he was any good at it. He runs a martial arts boxing academy. He's a proper gang lord!]

Master Richard Hudson is also a Muay Thai and kickboxing Instructor with the United Thai and kickboxing Federation, a full Instructor in Hsiu Lung Tao, a member of the British Eskrima Federation and Member of the World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation.

[aside: 'United Thai Federation' what the hell is that? Anyway, he'd have to be an instructor under some organization or it'd be illegal. Hey, cool, Kali Arnis. That's pretty good but what the hell is 'Hsiu Lung Tao'? Two pages in Google Images half of them are his site, the others are for some guy called "John Carrigan". Not good mate, you're a full instructor in your own fighting style. That's rather pathetic, especially since you mention it to impress us.]

In his time Master Richard Hudson has also been bodyguard to Rod Stewart, Noddy Holder, Anthea Turner and Sinita.

[aside: Lucky bastard. Just 'cause he learnt from 6 grand masters, he thinks he owns the world.]
