here's my advice
First of all, do the tutorial. It will probably help later.
Next, find the job that takes 1 energy and produces 2 experience. Do what you can to be able to perform this job. It usually requires you to do the first job a few times to get enough money to buy an item that you need for it. At this point DO NOT take part in any battles with other players.
Do said job constantly, ignoring the fact that you're leveling up. DO NOT change your stats yet.
Every time you get to a point when you run out of energy, improve you energy stat ONLY. Then continue to do the same mission again, etc.
When you can either no longer level up or even after increasing your energy stats you don't have enough to level, remove all your stat points in energy.
Check the battle page to see how much stamina you need and only put enough points in your stamina to complete 1 fight.
Then put all the rest of the stat evenly distributed between attack and defense.
Then battle anyone with the same or less crew members than you. You will always win.
You can also now go through the missions completing as many levels as you like but only buy what you need in the shop.
